Carver Monroe: Lifetime Committed to Sports

 

I study Sports Management in my second year at Brock University with my roots in White Rock, British Columbia. I started playing hockey when I was very young before relocating to Ontario. Then, at 16 years old to I started my junior hockey career. Between ages 16 and 21,  I competed for nine different teams in eight cities and learned extensively about hockey management operations. The exposure I received fueled my desire to pursue a career in sports management with a focus on hockey.

 

Strengths

Extensive Knowledge in Sports

I have been around sports my entire life and have always enjoyed watching and learning the analytical side of it.

 

Leadership Skills

I possess strong leadership qualities from my extensive background in hockey and being a supervisor in various jobs.

 

Critical Thinking

Being a goalie in hockey, I am able to think very critical in high intense situations and make the best possible choices for the team.

 

Coaching Experience

Only Goalies Hockey School (Goalie Coach)                    2023 - PRESENT

 

  • Teach experienced goalies how to improve
  • Shoot the pucks during drills when needed
  • Be an effective communicator of the drills being performed
  • Be a good teacher when it comes to instructing the goalies

 

Hockey Moves Summer Camp (Camp Counsellor and Instructor)

2024-PRESENT

 

  • Teach and run kids through drills during camp on-ice and off-ice
  • Teach young goalies the position and teach new strategies
  • Be able to think on the fly for the kids and ensure they have fun

Work Experience

Tee2Green (Road show person and Salesman)                           2024 - PRESENT

  • Set up trucks for weekend trips to sell inventory
  • Set up Shop at venue for the weekend
  • Sell golf Inventory to customers
  • Pack up inventory back into truck
  • Be able to call and book a venue in advance to have road shows

 

 

Volunteer Experience:

Volunteer Halton Hills Baseball  (Event Manager)  2019-2021

  • In charge of appointing positions to other volunteers
  • Organizing games on certain diamonds for teams
  • Setting up the diamonds and taking down the diamonds 
  • Having a crisis plan if things go south

Closing Statement

 

With my future leadership role in sight, I plan to combine my analytical drive with my coaching expertise. I dedicate myself to learning hockey strategy which includes both player recruitment methods and detailed statistical analysis. The upcoming year will see me step into a management role while coaching Junior hockey to acquire practical knowledge and advance my sports career.
